A truly global event
“You have developed a conference that really provides the civil “summit”-like atmosphere that is essential for diverse parties to work together to go forward. In some ways this is not unlike global warming in which only a few years ago environmentalists and the energy industry were polarized, but increasingly both parties are seeing a mutually beneficial path forward and the public seems increasingly supportive. The GTNF seems to be providing the needed forum to foster such advances in the world of tobacco business and health issues.”
—Jack Henningfield, vice president of research, health policy and abuse liability, Pinney Associates, USA
The Global Tobacco & Nicotine Forum (GTNF) was launched in Rio de Janeiro in 2008. The event has since been held in Bangalore, India (2010); Antwerp, Belgium (2012); Cape Town, South Africa (2013); West Virginia, USA (2014); and Bologna, Italy (2015). We are returning to Europe in 2016, inviting delegates to join us in Brussels, Belgium, on 27, 28 and 29 September.
The GTNF is organized and hosted by US-based Tobacco Reporter magazine, the leading international publication for the tobacco industry. First published in 1873, the monthly magazine is dedicated to updating the industry on everything from leaf markets to manufacturing, regulation to sustainability. Together with its sister publication, Vapor Voice magazine, Tobacco Reporter offers a uniquely broad and deep perspective on a rapidly changing business and regulatory landscape.
Elise Rasmussen is Tobacco Reporter’s global sales and events director and publisher of Tobacco Reporter and Vapor Voice magazines. The GTNF is Rasmussen’s brainchild.
Rasmussen’s career in tobacco and nicotine spans more than 30 years. In that time, she has traveled all over the world, helping customers establish their brands and forging meaningful connections between industry leaders and other stakeholders.
Rasmussen is the co-founder and chairwoman of Women In Tobacco, an association for women working in or connected with the tobacco and vapor industries. She is also a court assistant of the Worshipful Company of Tobacco Pipe Makers and Tobacco Blenders of the United Kingdom, one of the City of London’s historic livery companies.
Like the two preceding events, GTNF Bologna in September 2015 was sold out. Delegates and speakers from all over the world participated, including senior regulatory, tobacco and nicotine product executives, and public health officials engaged in the tobacco and nicotine arena. They are the prime movers shaping our industry, its present and future. We hope you will take your place with them in 2016.
